Empowering Women In IT: 4-DAY SKILLS FAIR PROGRAM

The 4 days skills fair program was a resounding success, with a diverse range of courses tailored to meet the interests and needs of the participants. The program commenced on Thursday, 1st August, and concluded on Monday, 5th August 2024. The Information Technology Society Womens Commission, in collaboration with the Head of the Department of Information Technology and Decision Sciences, organized a 4 day skills fair from Thursday, 1st August to Monday, 5th August 2024, aiming to provide a platform for ladies in the IT department to acquire new skills and enhance their professional development. According to the Head of the Department, the primary objective of this initiative was to encourage more ladies to participate in the Information Technology field, where males typically dominate activities like photography, drone piloting, and graphic design. He expressed hope that this skills fair would mark a turning point, empowering ladies to take on these activities and changing the narrative in the process.

Photography: Participants learned the fundamentals of photography, including composition, lighting, and editing. Content Creation: This course covered the essentials of creating engaging content for various platforms, including writing, storytelling, and visual design. Drone Piloting: Attendees gained hands-on experience operating drones, understanding safety protocols, and capturing aerial footage. Graphic Design: Participants discovered the basics of graphic design, including design principles, software applications, and visual storytelling.
